Chelsea Morning Farm is a 25 acre farm located north of Two Harbors, MN in the rural township of Silver Creek. We operate a diversified, small-scale, family-farm growing vegetable crops, raising livestock, and harvesting fish, maple sap, and other forest products, in a healthy, organic, and sustainable way.
Farm enterprises include 3 acres of mixed vegetables, commercial fishing of Lake Superior herring and trout, pure maple syrup, pastured poultry for eggs, heirloom vegetable and herb transplants, holiday balsam holiday wreaths, and cover crops for land health and fertility. Our primary marketing outlet is through Community Supported Agriculture delivering to Two Harbors, Duluth, Ely, and areas of the North Shore. In addition, we provide vegetables and maple syrup to Organic Roots in Ely, sell at the Two Harbors Farmers Market, and maintain a direct-to-consumer list of dedicated customers of all our farm products! Diversity is our mantra! Not only is diversity good for the land, it's good for people too! We provide customers with the freshest mix of all the standard vegetables grown in our region to include white-fleshed potatoes, red slicing tomatoes, mild green peppers and sweet orange carrots. Customers also enjoy a wide variety of heirloom vegetable and herb varieties that showcase extraordinary colors, flavors and textures. Over the last five years, we've been field trialing varieties, honing in on ones that are special and culling the ones that are not.
Our emphasis on diversity extends to farm partners. While maintaining the traditional philosophies of a CSA, Chelsea Morning Farm has expanded the notion of knowing your farmer! We have connected with farm partners who utilize sustainable growing and harvesting methods to supply our CSA with a range of local products. In addition to the foods our farm produces, shareholders have access to berries, wild rice, honey and pastured beef. When foods are supplied by farm partners, we provide information about each farm. Shareholders not only come to know us well throughout the season, but they come to know all the farmers cooperating in the CSA! |
